Veteran Ways Vijay Shekhar Sharma
There are many stories of famous people getting inspired by their idols or certain words to do their best; one such is the story of the CEO and founder of One97 Communications, Vijay Shekhar Sharma.
Currently, Mr. Sharma’s company has a valuation of around $5 billion and he attributes this success to four lines on poverty that changed his life forever.
Lines on Poverty
On Friday when talking at the India Today Conclave Mr. Sharma said: “Poverty in India is an asset, which sometimes our countrymen love to play with.”
At a ripe age when he was studying in 10th standard in the small town of Aligarh, UP; Sharma understood that poverty can only be removed only if one perceives and changes the existing state of affairs
Sharma says that he found inspiration to change his life from the following words;
Mein gareeb hun; main tumhe pyar karti hu ;mai tumhe chhod nahin sakti , kyunki tum mujhse jyada pyar karti ho ( I am poor; I love you; I cannot leave you be because you love me more than I do)
While talking about his awe inspiring story of rags to riches, Sharma said that Indian financial system chastens the honest and able; however, it allows dishonest individuals to take large loans and leave the country without paying them. He reiterated this point by stating that he had to pay 24% rate of interest when he had taken a loan for funding his start-up.
If you ignore the veiled comment on Kingfisher founder, Vijay Maliya; there is a definite inspiration you can take from Mr. Sharma’s life and the words that motivated him.
