Acer’s First Laptops with Built-in-Support for Alexa

Acer’s First Laptops with Built-in-Support for Alexa, Acer has unveiled a selection of its laptops with built-in support for Amazon’s voice-based digital assistant Alexa. It just revealed to the public the company’s plans to introduce that several of its laptops are the first to ship with Amazon’s voice assistant already installed.

The Spin 3 and Spin 5 models already have Alexa installed and should be available in stores any time now while the Nitro 5 Spin convertible will also pack Alexa, expected to come in June which is not that far away. Other Acer’s laptop includes Aspire, Switch 7 “Black Edition” and Swift PCs models will also offer built-in Alexa support to users over the coming weeks.

Users with compatible models won’t be left out and can expect new software updates with Alexa support delivered through the Acer’s Care Centre, starting from 23 May with the Spin 5, the company assured.

Alexa equipped PC will be quite useful since you get all the perks that come with having a regular Amazon’s smart speaker. It will be very interesting to see the effects of this new feature as it allows users with smart home devices to control their network of gadgets from their laptop, which seems to be the next obvious step with the technology.

“Initially Amazon Alexa will be available in the US via an update through Acer Care Center and will be a big step toward making Alexa available wherever customers might need her,” said Steve Rabuchin, Vice President at Amazon Alexa.

Enabled by Intel® Smart Sound Technology, an integrated audio DSP and a Hands-free access to Alexa on PCs can be helpful to customers and bring all your digital experiences together. It will be simple to interact with your smart home, get news or weather, set timers, and even play a more important role in maximizing your productivity, and getting the most from your entertainment,” said Anand Srivatsa, General Manager of Intel’s Desktop, Channel, and Systems Group.
